Customer Reviews

Bought flooring for my house here last year. Great customer service, friendly staff in the shop. They came to house to get measurements, delivered the flooring on time, and recommended a great carpenter to put the floor down.

Was forced to shop here because of a €3000 builder voucher, and Lawlors took full advantage of it. Prices are nearly double compared to elsewhere, with very limited options. The sales guy was friendly at first, but once I said I wasn’t buying everything on the quote, his attitude completely changed – rude and dismissive. Originally quoted €29 for delivery on a €5000 order, but when I reduced it to €3000 (still a lot!), they jacked it up to €75. Just because they know you’re tied to that voucher – they’ll do anything to squeeze every euro out of it. The manager is manipulative and pushy. Be extremely careful dealing with him. Overall, a greedy and unpleasant place. Avoid if you can

This has to be the worst shopping experience I’ve ever had. The only reason I even walked into Lawlors Furniture in Carlow was because our builder gave us a €3000 credit that had to be used there. And let me tell you – they know it. They take full advantage of it and try to milk every cent out of you because they know you don’t have a choice. From the start, the furniture guy was acting friendly – until I said I wouldn’t be buying all the items from the quotation. That’s when his tone changed completely. No more “helpful salesman” – just attitude, arrogance, and passive-aggressive behavior like I was wasting his time. The prices are absolutely ridiculous – double compared to other furniture shops for the same items. And there’s barely anything to choose from. Limited options, dated styles, and nothing worth the price tag. Here’s the worst part: in the initial quotation (for around €5000), the delivery charge was €29. But when we adjusted the order to around €3000 – which is still a decent spend – they suddenly bumped the delivery charge to €75. Why? Simple. Because they want to loot the money from the builder’s credit. It’s a clear cash grab, and they make it painfully obvious. The manager? Incredibly manipulative. Smooth talker until you question the pricing or delivery fees, then he turns sly. Be very cautious – he’ll twist your words, guilt trip you, and pressure you into buying more just to drain the voucher. Avoid this place unless you enjoy being ripped off, insulted, and manipulated. Lawlors Furniture is the kind of business that gives local shops a bad name. Do yourself a favor – take your money elsewhere if you have the choice. Unfortunately, we didn’t.

I purchased flooring and fitting services from Lawlors less than a year ago, and unfortunately, my experience has been far from satisfactory. From the beginning, it was extremely difficult to get clear ETAs. While the ground and first floors were eventually installed, I faced significant back and forth regarding the stairs. Once the installation was completed, I noticed the poor quality of workmanship. The transition strip beneath the front door was not fitted, and I recently discovered the likely reason—large gaps had been filled with glue in an attempt to keep the floor level, which prevented the proper installation of a transition strip. Unfortunately, this method was ineffective, and now the flooring is coming apart. The most concerning issue is with the backyard door, where the laminate boards are completely floating, not even making proper contact with the subfloor. I have attached a photo and video for reference.

Extremely unreliable flooring installation service. The initial estimate to start & finish the job (laminate on bottom & top floors with carpet on the stairs) was 3 weeks. It’s now been just over 6 weeks and the work was left half-finished over 3 weeks ago with no progress since. Multiple follow up estimates have been missed & I only ever get any sorts of updates if I call the contractors up myself days after a missed estimate. No work was done on the stairs, the kitchen unit boards did not get cut & re-installed and leftovers were left in the house “to be collected by someone later” more than 3 weeks ago now.
