This is a gem of a hardware store. The staff is lovely and have been there a while which is testament to the owner, I've heard he is a good boss. It is well stocked and full of surprising things and good deals.

Unfortunately, I have purchased tens of thousands of Euro of products from O Higgins over the years. Three building projects- in Moycullen and Salthill. I recently made a comparison to Brooks on natural slates. Brooks came in at about 10% cheaper. This spurred me to check recent invoices from O Higgins. On every single item, Higgins were at least 10% more expensive- roofing timber, felt, scaffolding planks. On a build, this translates into thousands of Euro. I have raised this with Noel in O Higgins and will show the quotation received from Brooks. My advice is to get a quotation from Brooks first. It could save you a lot of money. Im sorry I didnt check prices more closely years ago.
