I went to Euronics in Longford today, looking to buy a vacuum cleaner and a 65" OLED TV. The Topline space is very nice and with a lot of different things, where I'll probably be back to get some in the future, the problem was when getting to the Euronics division... I started by asking about vacuums and was greeted by two employees. I specified that I wanted a model with the following features: more than 750W, bagless, and corded. The taller employee immediately responded, "You're not going to find anything like that for €100." Surprised, I told him I had never mentioned a budget—I was simply looking for a powerful, bagless and non-battery vacuum. Instead of addressing my request, he continued with an odd analogy about expectations, comparing cheap €5 shoes to €100 shoes. Again, I had never mentioned money! At this point, the other employee stepped in and said they had a Dyson, but it was out of stock and the one on display was broken. He took my phone number but never asked for my name, which I found strange. After this awkward interaction, I browsed the TVs on my own while reflecting on what had just happened. I’m not used to such dismissive customer service, and honestly, it left a bad taste. Frustrated, I decided to leave the store empty-handed. Now, I'll be on my way to DID tomorrow, where they’ll likely get a sale worth over €2,000. (And just for the irony, I found the shoe analogy particularly amusing—considering I was wearing €350 sneakers at the time!)
