Crown Decorating Centre

I am leaving this review following a very poor experience that involved both an in-store interaction regarding a painter and issues that later caused unsuitable paint to be used in our kitchen forcing us to have the kitchen redone. On one visit, my wife and I attended Crown Decorators where staff helped us select a colour for our kitchen cabinets and were aware the colour was intended for kitchen use. The paint in that colour was later purchased by the painter from Crown Decorators and supplied to us as part of his charges. A replacement painter later confirmed the paint used was not scratch-resistant and unsuitable for kitchen furniture, meaning the work had to be fully redone. On my initial visit, while purchasing materials, I mentioned that I was considering using Liam Flynn, whose business card was displayed on their notice board. Gary responded, “Oh yes, we know Liam very well. His name's Liam but we call him Louie.” This conveyed clear familiarity in a professional, trade-supplier setting, and I proceeded on that basis. The work involved exterior painting and interior kitchen works. Unfortunately, the standard of workmanship was unacceptable and resulted in damage, delays, and additional costs: - Half of the rear exterior wall was accidentally splashed with mahogany paint from the pergola. - My car was accidentally splashed with dark grey paint from the front gate area. - Blue paint was splashed onto newly installed laminate flooring in our hallway. - A new white IKEA chair was repeatedly marked with paint because the painter did not use a proper ladder indoors. - The front door rubber seal and metal edge/lock mechanism were painted over, and I was told this was “normal” or that I was “nit-picking” for questioning it. - Defects were dismissed as not visible, and when clearly shown using a flashlight, the response was dispute rather than correction. - The job dragged on for around three weeks. One of those weeks we were away, leaving my pregnant wife and young child without a functioning kitchen and living in a construction site for nearly two weeks. - I ultimately paid the remaining balance simply to have Liam leave. After dismissing the painter, I visited Crown Decorators in person to raise my concerns. Businesses should be mindful that displaying contractor details in-store and expressing familiarity with them during customer interactions carries weight, as customers reasonably rely on those signals when making decisions. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Crown Decorators. The cost, disruption, and stress far outweighed any convenience.

Went in for a couple of tricky DIY projects, radiators, pine, UPVC and needed a little advice. Gary was amazing!!! He talked us through the steps for each material, showed us how to double up on products and threw in a free paint sample. Even checked my notes on the way out and wrote how to use all the products on the tins. We 100% would have wrecked all these jobs without him. Bona fide angel

Can’t highly recommend crown decorating centre enough , bought all our outdoor paint f & their expertise , advise & value was second to none ….. can’t praise manager Gary , , Dorothy & Sandra enough for their help ….also for changing paint colour we ordered which was d wrong choice by us !
